Brownies

Hello!

Here is my latest creation:
Brownies!

I love brownies. I could probably eat them all day. But that would not be good.
I am so used to making them out of a box, since that's what I've been doing for my whole childhood years. Well. It is so nice to get a homemade one that tastes way better than the out of the box brownies the I am so used to.

The Best Brownies

props to: Bean Town Baker

Ingredients
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups cocoa
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp espresso powder, optional
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9" x 13" pan
2. In a saucepan set over low heat, melt the butter, then add the sugar and stir to combine. Return the mixture to the heat briefly, just until it's hot, but not bubbling; it'll become shiny looking as you stir it. Heating this mixture a second time will dissolve more of the sugar, which will yield a shiny top crust on your brownies.
3. Transfer the sugar mixture to a medium-sized mixing bowl, if you've heated it in a saucepan. Stir in the cocoa, salt, baking powder, espresso powder, and vanilla.
4. Whisk in the eggs, stirring until smooth.
5. Add the flour and chips, again stirring until smooth.
6. Spoon the batter into a lightly greased 9" x 13" pan.
7. Bake the brownies for about 30-35 minutes, until a cake tester inserted into the center comes out clean, or with just a few moist crumbs clinging to it. The brownies should feel set on the edges, and the center should look very moist, but not uncooked. Remove them from the oven and cool completely prior to cutting.

8. Enjoy with all your heart.

^ That is a very important step in the process! If you're going to take the time to make homemade brownies, then why not enjoy them!

Homemade Oreos

Well hello there!

I think my favorite store bought cookies are the Oreos. They are so addicting! I wanted to take a stab at making my own, and I like them more.

Wish List: Shoes

I love shoes. I love shopping for shoes. And I love expensive shoes that I will never ever have unless I buy them myself.

Here are the ones I want for my birthday.
They are boating shoes, and are so fun! They have ones in all different colors, but I think these are the cutest.
Sperry Topsider

I love these Toms! Everyone is wearing them at school, and to be honest, I think they are super awesome. I want some really bad:)
Valentines Toms

I already have a pair of these, but since my feet grew, I need a new one. They are kind of expensive for flip flops, but they form to your feet and are super comfortable!

Sick Update

Well I went to the doctor yesterday. I was tested for the flu, strep throat, and a chest xray.
It turns out that I have pneumonia! Fun stuff right? No way.
I had a fever of 104.0 and it wasn't coming down. I was pretty much coughing with every other breath I took.
But now! I am feeling better, and my fever is at 98.9. Whew!
But I have a band concert today. And I can't go. And I was the only one playing the part. I feel really bad about it, but I guess they will have to work it out. I feel so bad!

Recently I've just been watching Say Yes to the Dress and sleeping. And eating Subway when I'm hungry.

Anyway. That's how my past 2 days have been.

Hopefully I will have a new recipe soon! When I'm better.

Sick

I am sick. I felt pretty dang bad this morning.
It started a couple of days ago, and the fact that I was golfing in the freezing cold and wind for two days doesn't really help. :)
Coughing, a fever of 102, and dizziness doesn't feel so good. So I stayed home from school.
What do I do when I stay home from school? Blog, pin, and look at lots of blogs. For a long long time.

Hopefully I will have a new recipe coming up soon, when I get over this sickness. Ugh.

Here are some pictures that describe how I feel:

Cute pictures huh? I wish I looked cute when I was sick...

Soft Sugar Cookies

You know the sugar cookies that you get at the store that are unbelievably soft, and you can't find out how to make them? Well. I cured that problem.
These taste super delicious. And their soft!

I Love. Day One

I love.
This weekend I will be posting about what I love.
Me, myself and I.

Today is music!

props

Now who doesn't like music?
I could listen to it all day. No kidding.

Here are just a snippit of who I love (a lot)

1. Kelly Clarkson.
She was kind of my idol when I was little. I love her voice and her first albums, though her new songs are pretty great! She is coming in concert, so cross your fingers that I can go!
Fav song? Since You've Been Gone

2. Daughtry.
North Carolina girl at heart, so how could I not put him on this list? He has such a great voice, and amazing songs.
Fav song? September

3. Maroon 5.
They have some great songs, but the other ones are trash. Kind of vulgar.
Fav song?  She Will Be Loved

4. Adele.
She is amazing. I love her voice! It is graveley and beautiful at the same time. She's the only one that can pull that off :)
Fav song? Set Fire to the Rain

5. Creed.
They've broken up (I think) but they have great songs!
Fav song? Don't Stop Dancing

6. Megan & Liz.
They are all over youtube. Their songs are so great! I love their originals and their covers.
Fav song? How to Love cover

7. Avril Lavigne.
She has some great old songs! I haven't heard anything new from her, but I love the old ones. They are so great.
Fav song? When You're Gone

8. Bon Jovi.
I can't believe that I haven't listed him yet! I saw him in concert and he is great. More like an awesome guy from the 80's! I love him and I wasn't even born then.
Fav song? Livin' on a Prayer

9. Rush.
They have a crazy awesome drummer. That is awesome cause I love playing drums! And their songs are pretty cool!
Fav song? The Trees/Tom Sawyer

10. Alicia Keys
I was also kind of obsessed with her a while ago.  But now it's coming back! I love her airy voice, and soulful songs.
Fav song? Wreckless Love

I could go on. Believe me!
But I won't. For the sake of your sanity.

I just barely scratched the surface of all the artists I listen to, but it's a good start.
